I’m a writer and student researcher at the Luther King Centre for Theology and Ministry in Manchester, UK. I’m studying white-led expressions of evangelical and Pentecostal Christianity in contemporary Britain and am interested in how things we often take for granted – like our cultures, stories, everyday habits, and common objects – shape our most deeply held beliefs.

As a queer, liberal Anglican, my interest in the humanities is largely driven by the process of recovery from religious trauma after many years submerged in socially and theologically conservative – but superficially welcoming – environments. My writing (academic, popular non-fiction, and fan fiction!) prioritises queer joy and communicating the information and narratives I’ve worked hard to explore.

My first book ‘Ineffable Love: Exploring Christian Themes in TV’s Good Omens’ (written with Emma Hinds) was published in 2020 by Darton, Longmann & Todd. It is a LGBTQIA+ inclusive Christian study guide for individual or group reflection. Author, priest, and theologian Revd Dr Rachel Mann called it “a recipe for serious reflection, genre-blasting Bible study, and not a few laughs along the way.” Poet Revd Kevin Scully, writing in the Church Times, said it has both “potentially big consequences” and “much to recommend it.” Those who read it tend to describe it as surprisingly funny and profound; I’m not sure how to feel about the surprise.

I’m a Chartered Fellow of the Geological Society of London and work in the construction industry as a geotechnical engineer, designing and assessing anything that interacts with the ground (foundations; landslides; retaining walls; tunnels; basements; and more).

You can find me on social media posting pictures of manicures, cats, geology-themed cakes, houseplants, and arts & crafts, with occasional thoughts on theology, popular culture and politics. Only the LinkedIn account aspires to standards of professionalism in content and tone.
